1. Who We Are

NeoNest™ is a neonatal puppy care app published by LifeLight Studios ("we", "us"), an independent UK-based studio. Our registered contact for privacy enquiries is privacy@neonest.app.

Under the UK Data Protection Act 2018 and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), LifeLight Studios is the data controller for the personal data described in this Policy.

2. Information We Collect

The table below summarises every category of data NeoNest collects, why we collect it, and where it's stored.

We do not collect: precise location, contacts, advertising identifiers, browsing history outside the app, biometric identifiers, or any data from children under 13.

3. How We Use Your Information

• Provide and operate the NeoNest app
• Sync your data across devices (only if you opt in)
• Send notifications about your puppies' care (feed timers, EWS alerts, messages)
• Verify your subscription entitlement
• Investigate and fix crashes and bugs
• Improve features based on anonymised usage patterns
• Respond to your support requests
• Comply with legal obligations (HMRC tax records, safeguarding reports if required by law enforcement)

We never use your data for advertising, profiling, or sale to third parties. Full stop.

4. Voice & Microphone

NeoNest requests microphone access for the following optional features:

• NeoNanny voice commands: When you say "NeoNanny" inside The Nest, audio is processed on-device by your phone's speech-to-text engine and is not sent to our servers.
• Voice-onboarding dictation: When you dictate your name, kennel, or breed during onboarding, the same on-device speech-to-text is used. Audio never leaves your device.
• NeoNanny ElevenLabs voice (premium, optional): If you enable the premium voice, the text of NeoNanny's reply is sent to ElevenLabs to generate audio. No personally identifiable puppy data is included. See the ElevenLabs Privacy Policy.

You can deny microphone permission at any time and still use every safety and care feature.

5. Camera & Photos

NeoNest requests camera and photo library access only when you choose to add a photo (litter portrait, pup profile, story page).

• Photos are stored on your device. They are uploaded to Firebase Storage only if you enable cloud sync.
• We never automatically capture, scan, or analyse images. Nothing is sent to a third-party AI vision service.
• You can delete any photo from inside the app, and the corresponding cloud copy is removed within minutes.

6. NeoNanny AI Assistant

NeoNanny is a voice-first AI care assistant that answers questions about neonatal puppy health.

• How it works: NeoNanny responses come from a curated knowledge base of breeder-vetted answers, voiced by ElevenLabs. NeoNanny is not a free-form LLM and does not call OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google's generative AI services.
• Conversation history: Stored on your device only. We do not retain transcripts on our servers.
• Aggregate insights: We may track anonymised counts of which knowledge-base topics are queried (no per-user attribution) to improve coverage.

7. Data Storage & Security

If you enable cloud sync:

• Data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (Google's default key management)
• We use Google Firebase (Firestore, Realtime Database, Storage, Auth, Functions) hosted in EU and US regions
• Access to production systems is limited to the developer (Mike Sayer) and is protected by 2FA
• You can delete all of your cloud data at any time — see our Data Deletion page

8. International Data Transfers

NeoNest is a UK-published app, but Firebase, Google Cloud, ElevenLabs, RevenueCat, and Agora may process data in regions outside the UK and EU (including the United States). For any such transfer we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK's International Data Transfer Addendum to ensure equivalent protection.

9. Third-Party Services

NeoNest uses the following third parties to operate. Each one only receives the minimum data necessary for its specific function.

• Google Firebase — authentication, Firestore, Realtime Database, Storage, Cloud Messaging, Crashlytics, Analytics, Cloud Functions. Privacy info.
• RevenueCat — subscription management. Receives an anonymous app user ID and store receipts, no name or email. Privacy info.
• ElevenLabs — optional premium voice synthesis. Privacy info.
• Agora.io — real-time voice and video calling for community calls. Privacy info.
• Apple Sign In, Google Sign In, Facebook Login, X (Twitter) Login, TikTok Login — authentication only. Each provider has its own privacy policy.
• On-device speech-to-text — provided by Android / iOS, no third-party network calls.

10. Cookies & Tracking

This website uses essential cookies only (no analytics, no advertising trackers). The app uses no advertising identifiers or third-party SDKs that track across apps. We do not respond to "Do Not Track" signals because we don't track in the first place.

11. Data Retention

• Account data & puppy data: Retained while your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion (immediately if you use in-app delete).
• Encrypted cloud backups: Rolling 90-day window, after which deleted data is fully purged.
• Crash reports: 90 days, then deleted.
• Subscription / tax records: Retained for 6 years to comply with UK HMRC and EU VAT requirements.
• Anonymised analytics: Indefinite, since they cannot be linked back to you once your account is deleted.

12. Your Rights

You have the following rights, regardless of where you live. UK and EU users have these rights under GDPR and the UK Data Protection Act; California users have equivalent rights under the CCPA.

• Right of access — get a copy of all data we hold about you
• Right to rectification — correct inaccurate data
• Right to erasure — delete your account and data (see Data Deletion page)
• Right to data portability — export your puppy data in a machine-readable format
• Right to restriction — pause processing of your data
• Right to object — especially to analytics (opt-out in app Settings)
• Right to withdraw consent — for any processing based on consent (e.g. premium voice, cloud sync)
• Right to lodge a complaint — with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or your local data protection authority

Email privacy@neonest.app to exercise any of these rights. We respond within 30 days.

13. California Residents (CCPA / CPRA)

If you live in California, you have the additional right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete it, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not "sell" personal information as that term is defined under the CCPA, and we do not "share" it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

14. Children's Privacy

NeoNest is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU/UK). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it immediately.

15. Apple App Tracking Transparency (iOS)

NeoNest does not track you across apps and websites. The app does not present an App Tracking Transparency prompt because no tracking takes place.

16. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any material change will be announced inside the app and noted at the top of this page with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use after the change means you accept the updated policy.
